right in the middle of her forehead,
And when she was good, she was very, very good,
but when she was bad she was horrid.
My mom used to recite this little poem to me all the time when I was little. I remember hating to have my hair curled and my mom putting curlers in my hair in the middle of the night. I would wake up furious! Today, I put my little girl through similar torture and got the exact same reaction that I gave when I was little. Elliot was a sobbing mess all morning before her school pictures. She cried when she saw what she was wearing. She cried when I put hotsticks in her hair (a first for her). She cried when I took them out and tried to pull the curls out of her hair. By the time we got to school for her pictures, she had cried all morning, her eyes were red and puffy and I had resorted to using candy as a means of bribery. Two weeks ago, she was begging for curls so that she could be like Loren, her friend at church.
But, the result was beautiful. Don't you agree? I took this picture after I bribed her with her Pez dispenser. She was happy to have the candy, but soon resumed the sobbing and crying.
I have been really exhausted today and actually napped while my kids napped today. I was in the middle of my history reading, when I couldn't stay awake any longer. Not that FDR's New Deal isn't completely fascinating, I was just worn out. James called at three thirty and I was completely out of it. He caught on quickly (I could barely put together a sentence) and I had to fess up to my mid afternoon nap taking. I am so blessed to have a husband who doesn't seem to mind. Trust me, he wants me to have plenty of sleep, because without it, I am become "Crazy Mommy", my wicked alter ego.
Preston came home with his book fair wish list today. It totaled about $32.00. Aunt Pat was closest (and she was the only one who submitted a guess besides me). Preston did disclose that he ran out of time and could not write down all of the books that he wanted. He had a list of about 6 or 7 and said he wanted more. Tomorrow night is Family Night for the book fair and we will try to make our appearance before we have to be at church. As part of his homework, we have to read at least four books together every week and I am really getting tired of Amazing Sharks and Dinosaur Babies. He has lots of books, but I am looking for some quick, easy reads. I am usually trying to cram four books in on Wednesday. Shame on me for procrastinating! I am not setting a very good example for the little guy!
Carissa's Random Question of the Day
If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
Because love is blind, men aren't!

Hi Carissa! Elli looks adorable!!! FYI - the easiest way to use hot sticks is to put the hair in a high ponytail and roll the ponytail. It gives hair body and lots of curl (if you are interested enough to do this again! LOL) I am sure her pictures will be awesome, she is a beautiful little girl, looks like her mommy and her Nana. Love you! Aunt Pat
