Today was the first day of BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). Elli and I were very excited to get back to our Tuesday morning Bible study. We dropped Preston off at school and headed out to take care of a couple of errands. After high stress errand number two, with a three year old in tow, I got back to the car, strapped Elliot into her car seat and got in. I turned the key and the car didn't start. I try again and all I hear is this awful clicking noise. I won't keep you in suspense any longer, my battery was dead. I called my mom and after a brief discussion, decided that the best idea was for me to call AAA roadside assistance. My mom was also on her way to Bible Study, but I have to leave early in order to pick up Preston in time and I couldn't think of a good solution to get me there without causing her too much hassle or causing her to miss Bible Study.
AAA got there 3o minutes later. Thirty minutes is a long time when you are roasting in the sun in the parking lot of a title company. The men were very nice and got my car started. They had to push it out of the parking space in order to hook it up for a jump start. I headed straight to the battery shop to get a new battery put in. They got me in and out relatively quickly. Eighty-nine dollars later and with a car that will reliably start, I headed back down the road. I wanted to go to Bible Study, but I ended up missing it entirely. I am so disappointed.
Thank God for AAA. I really mean it. My husband doesn't have a job that he can leave and rush to my rescue when I have car trouble, and I have it quite often. So, for those few times a year when I have to call them, I am really thankful that I have this "insurance"! I really hate that I am so helpless when it comes to cars, but I am. AAA doesn't seem like a big deal, until you need it.
What are you thankful for today? So what do you have that doesn't seem like a big deal until you need it?
Elliot's Quote of the Day
"Those guys are cool."-said of the two AAA guys that came to jump our car.
