I went to school this morning. No major problems there. I had a quiz, on which I did extremely well. The lecture seemed to fly by. It was interesting. No major problems there. I came home to plan my classes for next semester...found my first and second choices for all of the classes I need. No major problems there. I went to pick up Preston from school. He greeted me with a hug and a coin for good behavior. No major problems there....or so I thought.
I got into the car. We are always in a rush to go pick up Elliot from preschool on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Preston's school gets out at 11:23 and we have to pick Elliot up across town at 11:30. I begin the cross town journey to Elliot's school and I smell something. It's a bad something. It smells like dog poop. So I begin to search. It can't be Preston. He is all the way in the back and this smell is close. Is it coming from outside? Surely the smell would have disappeared by now if it was coming from outside. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I swerve to the side of the road and get out of the car to check my boots. There is was...dog poop.
This is why I am angry about this whole thing. I went to the school and walked across the lawn to get Preston. That means, someone let their dog poop in the grassy area that children congregate right outside the school. I mean really, what were they thinking? That is just wrong. And with my track record, if there is gum or poop on the ground within 100 yards of me, somehow my shoes will find it. I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around. That is why I don't throw my gum on the ground. I really make an effort not to throw my gum on the ground because I know that if I do, I will step in gum. It may be a crazy idea, but I live by it. I also do not let my dogs poop at the park when I take them on a walk. It's the same idea...some might call it karma. So why, then, does this always seem to happen to me?
I had to clean it off before I got back in the car. I found a grassy spot and began to clean. I won't get too graphic but you get the idea. This made me a little later than I would have liked to have been to pick Elliot up from preschool. When I got there, I found out that she had peed her pants while at school. The girl is potty trained and has been for some time, yet the excitement of school proves too much for her sometimes and she refuses to stop what she is doing to go to the bathroom. Kids, what to do?
Anyway, as I said before, I managed to shake off this bad mood. I feel better now, but it is the principle of the whole dog poop thing that gets to me! It is so not loving your neighbor when you let your dog poop in their path!
Elliot's Quote of the Day
"Preston, look at my big 'o' ring."
--she got a ring out of a quarter machine today.
Preston's Quote of the Day
"You need to read me the Bible more because there were some answers I didn't know."
--I believe they had Bible trivia in Sunday School yesterday.
