Quiz 1 Tomorrow

Well tomorrow is the first quiz in my Microbiology class. I can't believe how much chemistry is involved in Microbiology. This really took my by surprise. I haven't had chemistry in about 13 years, so needless to say, I am scurrying to brush up on some basic Chemistry concepts. This class is so fast and furious. Tuesday we have our first exam. There is very little time in between each quiz, lecture exam and lab exam. The teacher was very clear that we would finish every bit of material that he covers in a regular 18 week semester.

This morning in lab, we looked at some water from a nasty aquarium in the greenhouse at the college. There were some creepy, crawly, little microorganisms swimming around in the water.

But I have to tell you about the gal that sits next to me. How is it that I always end up next to a gum smacker? When people smack their gum, it drives me absolutely crazy. It just so happens that the girl sitting next to me in lab was smacking her gum this morning. Mind you, class begins at 7:30 in the morning, so I tend not to be in the best of mood at that time in the morning anyway. But add a little gum smacking to the equation and I am absolutely on edge. Deep breaths. On top of that, we aren't supposed to be eating, drinking or chewing anything during lab because we are working with live bacteria. The instructor even told us not to chew on our pencils. We have to disinfect our work area before we work and after we work. Anyway, I hope the gum is not a daily thing. I will be a crazy person by the end of the summer if it is. I have no idea why I am so touchy about things like this. I wish they didn't bother me, but they do. And what am I supposed to do about that?

I don't have much else to write about, because school is the only thing that I do right now. I come home, feed my kids lunch and hit the books. I try to get them down for naps quickly so that I have time to focus on what I am doing.

I am off to bed. I have to tuck in early these days.
